Vintage Store Design

Is there anything better than vintage shopping?

This was actually my first ever commercial interiors project so you will have to excuse the photos, they are all I could find after over 5 years!!

The concept was simple, make an eye catching storefront and add some colour to the highstreet. We repainted the outside in a teal with gold highlights and a leopard mural on the side wall. The interior was pink and teal with a highlight wall of Silken Favours jungle wallpaper. Most of the interiors were upcycled, the sofa was old and reupholstered and the shelving was thrifted and spray painted gold and all frames selling artwork were vintage. We custom built the desk with chevron tiling and a pink resin top made to look like pink marble.

After 5 years I can say there are a few things I would do differently. Take the grey chevron flooring for example, I would replace that with a pale blue and white checkerboard floor and I would change the interior teal to colour match the jungle wallpaper and reupholster the sofa in a floral to contrast the wallpaper and pink walls. I would also add a couple of vintage rugs and cushions to give the place warmth.

I wish there was an image of the fitting room, which was covered in pink flamingo wallpaper and had a huge gold mirror.

Lessons learnt, go bigger and take more photos!
